There has been a lot of attention given to the climate change debate in recent times. Both sceptics and environmentalists have been debating ferociously about the influence of mankind’s behaviour on the climate and what should be done about it.

However, climate change often steals the limelight from other environmental issues that are just as important and just as threatening as the effects of global warming.

There are many other reasons why we should be more environmentally aware and shop for more green and eco friendly products than just climate change and one important reason is Sustainability

Naturally human beings are quite greedy creatures. For generations we have plundered the world and taken what we needed but the Earth’s resources are limited and sustainability is one reason why we should be conscious about what we consume.

Regardless of the climate change debate, the fuels that supply us with energy to heat our homes and run our businesses, cars, hospitals and schools, will eventually run out. Cutting down on our energy consumption and monitoring our energy use is vital if we are to make the resources last as long as possible.

Alternative solutions need also be found and there are many eco friendly products that take advantage of green energy sources. Solar powered gadgets are one example. And a whole range of solar powered chargers, gifts and toys are available.

But sustainability doesn’t just include fuels. From what we eat to what we wear, we need to be conscious of what we are buying. Some fish stocks are running dangerously low and farming worldwide is stretched to its limit so its important we adapt our diet to ensure we can continue to feed ourselves.

Other items too such as cotton, silk, wood and other natural resources can be depleted by overuse. Sustainable alternatives are important in this area too like bamboo which is being used to make bamboo clothing which is just as soft and practical as cotton.

Richard N Williams is interested in green innovations and writes about them. Please visit our website if you are interested in bamboo clothing or other eco-friendly products

The more we learn about the the whole ‘climate change’ issue, the more we learn that it is highly likely that there has been a global warming hoax. We have heard from those who have a great deal to gain from turning the world ‘green’ and ‘eco-friendly, that there are reasons why we are having a cold winter this year, seeing as the weather has not cooperated with the global warming song and dance. The argument is that global warming is causing the current cooling trend. This argument comes after the previous argument that we really, really need to pay more for everything to be ‘green’ in order to save the world. Not to mention, the eco-friendly products are made, produced, owned or supported by supporters of politicians and political groups that support their causes. Each scratching each others backs. Nice arrangement if you are part of the circle of favors for money or visa versa. Not so nice if you are a consumer who has to pay more for something that is labeled ‘eco-friendly’. Then along came ‘ClimateGate’ and now it seems there is a trend towards a climate change turn-around by scientists who are exposing a hoax that has been perpetrated on the people of America and the West since the environmental movement started back in the 1960s. Dare we say article.nationalreview.com that the whole thing has been just one big lie? Exaggeration and alarmism have been a chronic weakness of environmentalism since it became an organized movement in the 1960s. Every ecological problem
